Agnus Dei — Palm Sunday in Color

Agnus Dei – The symbol of the Lamb of God or The Agnus Dei is of most ancient origin and is based on  Scripture verses found in Isaiah, John and Revelation. It is often depicted carrying the banner of victory and crowned with the nimbus representing divinity. Combined with the branches of the Palm tree,  it represents Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The qualities of gentleness and innocence  associated with lambs reflect the concept of the sacrifice of Christ  offered as an expiation of the guilt of mankind. Loaves and Fishes – In the gospel reading from John 6, Jesus feeds thousands of people with five loaves and two fish. Looking closely at this miracle, we can see how we can always rely on God’s abundance. With our faith in God’s care, we can be certain that He will take care of our needs and use this as an example of how, in our daily lives, He works through us to care for others in need.
